What could be better than cheese and bread? Ok, well, I'm sure for some folks they can think of things but for basics like these, the two go really well together. Like, for instance, the sourdough cheese wheel from Acme Bread Company at the Ferry Building. A rounded twist of sourdough bread with tangy parmesan and other cheeses baked around and on top. I like the sharp flavors of both the dough and the cheese. It's a pretty big wheel for $2.55, not too bad a deal for Ferry Building pricing. I would say my one thing is I wish I could get this heated up/warm. Sometimes sourdough can get--chewy--if it sits around a bit. Other than that it makes a nice treat with a hot tea (or coffee) while you walk around either at breakfast or lunch time. But I've had several bread/baked things from Acme and you really can't go wrong with whatever you get.
- Baker & Banker is closing. I will miss the (dessert) Baker in this.
- Samovar Tea Lounge is the new coffee. Updates it's spaces with new sleek design.
- New openings abound in SOMA, the Castro, on Fillmore and elsewhere.
- Theme restaurants making a comeback. I'd say they never really left.
- 7x7's Foodie Agenda for the upcoming week.
- Mission restaurant owner gives up on two places, but still has two more to tend.
- GLUTEN-FREE BE DAMNED!! Tartine looks to bread the world.
- SFist runs down their favorite Bay Area Korean restaurants.
- Slurp Noodle Bar opens in the Castro. Take the name and area as you will.
- When one door closes another opens. This time with a former partner/owner who came back!
- Eating comfort foods don't comfort?! Whatever, pass the bacon please.
- Chef Kinch of fire ravaged Manresa misses going to work. He's the only one right?
- I don't know what Pink Zebra is but it seems to be all the rage.
